24 hour check up on things happening in the Skagit. Piles of dirt and concrete! Progress.
Sun in the face kind of healing for sure.

The snow geese and trumpeter swans are back and it’s absolutely gorgeous in the Skagit this fall.

Get up here!

Now is the time to really show your love of oysters. They are coming out of their very busy summer of reproduction and will be spending the next 6 or so months preparing for another summer season. As fall progresses they will begin to firm up, flavors will become more intense, and really show off. Nothing wrong with a summer oyster but this is the time of year where oysters shine.

🦪🦪QUESTION for you all!!!

We’ve been chatting with our favorite folks @hamahamaoysters and we were wondering if it would be helpful if we had a little shellfish store @westwardseattle this fall and winter for you to pop in and buy oysters & clams for you to bring home? You could pick some up with your wine club as well?! Maybe a few of my favorite shellfish recipes available?

Of course we would prefer you stay for dinner or at least drinks too, but we thought this might be a great way for you all to enjoy these beauties when driving out to the canal isn’t an option.

Let me know?! XO

My friends at PAWS reached out to see if I could help spread the word that they have 9 orphaned bear cubs that they are feeding so they can be returned to the wild.
If anyone has food, money or gift cards to Costco please send their way. Our animal friends sadly always need our help. Look at these sweet cubs.

I currently can’t cook because I’m on crutches so I thought I’d share some kitchens that I’ve loved.

The first one is with my dog Jeffry, The original Boat Street Cafe. This was not a fancy kitchen but it taught me that limitations often make’s the best food.

A good garage set up with restaurant equipment leftovers and a really good induction stove and @breville oven and you are set.

A four course dinner for 20 on a beautiful Venetian Bragozzo crabbing boat is pretty much the most bad ass cooking situation. Thank you @emikodavies for the perfect day in the lagoon.

And again… making do with what you have but at the same time creating a beautiful space for tired fishers to come together around a meal is perfect. @markdtitus thanks for sharing your Bristol Bay works with us.

It’s been since September 3rd that I’ve been recovering at home after knee surgery. What a humbling, strange, painful and also heartwarming couple of long weeks.

These pears were picked by my parents from our trees in the Skagit and were dropped off @thewalrusbar & @mioohmioseattle Excited to see what @jordy_waters & @ryan.hatleberg make with them.

The fabulous @tonyis12now & @breestockmw @stock.chad made a delicious wine for us @eatseacreatures Lucky wine club members will be seeing this in their offerings and soon it will be by the glass in most of our locations. Thanks for all the effort getting this to us. Also a big thanks to @jeribou for the great label.

Still lots of kitty and puppy love, making all this time at home so much better.

AND most importantly, thank you to everyone who has reached out, brought flowers, took Bowie on a walk, brought me dinner, picked up nectarines at the farmers market because I don’t want summer to end, & cleaned the kitty litter …etc! The little things in life that make it special.

I’m slowly getting better. Another week and a half until I get to start putting weight on my left leg. Cannot wait.

Finally!!!!! join me on September 30th with my friends from London @honeyandco for an incredible event with them @mioohmioseattle Book Now in our event tab @eatseacreatures 🔥🔥🔥

Being stuck at home unable to do much of anything has been a challenge to say the least. Only one fall so that feels like an accomplishment. I am throughly enjoying watching all of my sweet cats move about the house. They are such great company. Two weeks in, six to go before I can ditch the crutches. 🙃

Oh! If anyone has a working wheelchair I can borrow so I can get around for the next few weeks let me know. 💙💙🐈🐈‍⬛ Thanks!

Big thank you to @oystermandan @shirlee.erickson @jimerickson34 @margaretedwins @carriea0 @nicolefh @ezyogaseattle @jrz7527 @wattywatty @tonyis12now @alexadallas for checking in on me, bringing me food, making me food and all the other fun things one does for someone on crutches.

I’m terrible at asking for help. 💋
